Virtual Citizenship

On November 30, 2007, the Office for Teaching & Learning co-hosted an all-day symposium called Virtual Citizenship & New Technologies, live in the Bernath Auditorium and in Second Life at the New Media Consortium (NMC) amphitheater.  Our partners in this groundbreaking symposium were the Center for the Study of Citizenship, the Honors Program and the DeRoy Lecture Series, which focused on research, teaching and service related to citizenship in the 21st century. As part of our mission to evaluate new teaching technologies, the OTL provided the resources, and the pedagogical and technical knowledge needed to bring this important work to a global audience via Second Life.
